Plats and Partitions

Partition Plats (three or less Parcels) and Subdivisions (four or more Lots) are two of the ways to divide land into more than one piece of property. Property Line Adjustments are used to relocate an existing property line between two abutting properties where no additional lot or parcel is created. Approval for land division or adjustment is obtained through local planning or land use departments. Rules are set by these local municipalities to ensure zoning requirements and other land use regulations are followed.
