Construction Surveying

Site development for surveying generally begins at the topographic phase. After site design is completed, from the initial topographic survey, the construction process begins. Contractors utilize surveyors to locate the design features to be constructed on a project site. Surveyors set stakes, known as hubs and lath, to reference both the horizontal and vertical location of each feature. Surveyors are also used to track quantities of material either removed or brought into the project for budgeting purposes.
